In the end I am VERY glad I bought this. My three year old spends HOURS in it playing.
I had never seen one of these in person and I always wondered how was it worth the cost. Anyhow, we love it.
I debated giving it to my 5 year old for Christmas but in the end I gave it to my 3 year old an I am glad I did. It is tiny, my 3 year old is the perfect size but I have had my 9 & 11 year old sleep in it.
It has a fabric cover over metal bars. This makes it a bit hard to put together but makes it washable with is super nice as kids tend to bring food into play houses.
You can split the sides apart and make it all open or push them together for a "closed" house with a door. Her favorite gift by far at Christmas.
We had no trouble putting it together though it did take 30 minutes and full concentration. They love it. We bought this for our 3 and 1 year old daughters. We love the details. They have played in it everyday for weeks. It is the perfect size for their bedroom. We act out every fairy tale ever written from Goldilocks to the 3 pigs. Great gift.
Sturdier than a typical tent. Less imposing than a plastic house. It's very cute and makes it easy to get in and out of since it's also divided down the middle.
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. It took me almost 2 hours, some of the poles were hard to push together, and putting the actual tent over the structure was a bit difficult. I have read some reviews where they say to have 2 people, which would definitely cut build time in half. When pushed together as a house, the inside is very roomy. Its a beautiful little house, probably about 4ft x 4ft. We did not buy all the accessories, so she just takes whatever she wants with her inside the house. She absolutely loves it. You have to make sure everything is snapped together perfectly.
It came with the stove and she also has a baby bed inside. The only downside to it, was putting it together. Aside from that, I would still buy it all over again. I would recommend this to anyone.
The cottage is great. Very pretty design, and very big. She loves having her own little space. I usually build all of our furniture myself and this wasn't easy so it does take some experience. (She's a monkey and will climb on everything so I figure everything is bound to fall over, and so far I've been right). I also figured out quickly I should use a hammer to fit the metal pieces together onto the plastic parts. I would say it is a little difficult to put together as the instructions are extremely helpful but once you get the idea of how the whole frame is supposed to fit together it goes faster. My 2 year old is the perfect size for it.
I also did need my husbands help with putting the fabric cover on the frame in the end, so it's not a one person job. Besides it not being the easiest thing to build (at least it was easy to get out of the packaging because we all know how hard that is anymore), it is really awesome. The fabric/pole construction does seem a little rickity, but I would rather a lightweight toy fall over on my daughter than an extremely heavy plastic one. We all absolutely love it.
